Largest-Ever Amenities Package in Brooklyn Unveiled at The Edge

11/1/2010

40,000 Square Feet of Indoor/Outdoor Amenities Now Open, Including an Onsite Spa and Year-Round Pool

Brooklyn’s largest residential development, The Edge condominium, has just unveiled its eagerly anticipated amenities package.  Professionally managed by American Leisure, which was also a consultant on the design, and totaling an astonishing 40,000 square feet – making it the largest and most comprehensive amenities package in the borough – the facility features everything imaginable from an open-air swimming pool with an outdoor sun terrace to a multi-purpose sports area and onsite spa.

“We are extremely proud to offer buyers a chance to enjoy our newly completed amenities space, especially when a number of new developments have either scaled back on or shelved plans,” said Jeffrey Levine, Chairman of Douglaston Development, the building’s developer.  “Providing a full-scale lifestyle package for homeowners in the comfort of their own building is one of the major draws for many Edge buyers. We’ve spared no effort in order to assure that this magnificent facility will be buzzing with activity through engaging American Leisure.”

With move-ins underway, residents can now enjoy the host of amenities offered at The Edge.  There’s no need for an annual gym membership when you have two fully-equipped, professionally operated fitness centers and a yoga studio.  Additionally, the multi-purpose sports facility is equipped for basketball and volleyball games as well as exercise classes for residents.  Think it’s too cold for a dip in the water?  Not so at The Edge, thanks to its breathtaking glass-enclosed indoor pool complete with a heated floor and whirlpool!

If you’re not into active exercise, or running in and out of a plunge pool with a massaging waterfall isn’t for you, The Edge offers a therapeutic steam bath and wood sauna, and massages, facials and body wraps are available by appointment in the spa’s treatment rooms for the ultimate relaxation experience.  Residents can also take advantage of the building’s two theater-screening rooms, golf simulator, Nintendo Wii room, private party room, expansive outdoor terrace with chaise lounges and barbeques, and/or the children’s playroom.  Each building also houses its own resident lounge with a communal chef’s kitchen for cooking demonstrations or dining, a billiards table, and seating areas surrounding a fireplace and flat screen TV.  Also on hand are hybrid Zipcars, but the development is conveniently located just three blocks from the subway and one stop from Manhattan.

Steve Kass, CEO of American Leisure, the nationally recognized leader in the conceptualization, design and management of prestigious lifestyle facilities, spas and fitness centers such as The Setai and Hotel Plaza Athenee, exclaims, “In over 30 years of our experience in the leisure and lifestyle field, I have never seen as comprehensive and beautifully appointed an offering that can even be compared to The Edge.”

“We have seen an unprecedented amount of foot traffic with over 50 appointments each weekend, and since announcing occupancy, The Edge has averaged at least one deal per day,” added Highlyann Krasnow, Executive Vice President of The Developers Group, the exclusive sales and marketing firm for the building.  “We believe the completed amenity spaces will only help to further heighten people’s interest in this development.”

According to Krasnow, a recent price cut on select homes helped spur additional sales over the summer and there are still a variety of layouts facing both Manhattan and Brooklyn available.  Helping to eliminate mortgage concerns, buyers will be pleased to find that the building is FHA-approved and there are several preferred lenders available with zero percent presale requirements and competitive rates.  Prices start at $390,000.

Located on the redeveloped North Williamsburg waterfront, South Edge is a 30-story tower housing 360 residences, while the 15-story North Edge offers 205 residences.  Both buildings, which anticipate obtaining LEED Silver certification, offer homes ranging from studios to three bedrooms, as well as duplexes and penthouses.  Buyers can visit four fully-furnished model residences, each boasting eco-friendly design features, beautifully-appointed finishes, energy-saving appliances and incredible views.

Those interested in making an appointment at The Edge can visit the building’s newly relocated Sales and Design Center in the development’s South Tower at 22 North 6th Street, between Kent Avenue and the waterfront.  For more information, contact 718-222-0211 or visit the website at www.williamsburgedge.com.
