American Leisure Partners with iStar/Residential to Launch Beach Initiative in Asbury Park

City of Asbury Park | June 13th, 2013

April in June!  What’s the deal with this weather?  Start sending some signals to the weather gurus to straighten this all out.  We don’t need to establish new rain records for the month of June.  Monday night, Patti and I were watching the water come into our basement through the floor.  Enough!

Tonight, brings us the second “Vibe in the Streets” event.  Last week’s got cancelled and tonight unfortunately will probably not be the type of evening to be partying in the streets. Still come down and support our buisnesses because even if the weather is crazy we are still having fun in the city.  Morgan and Rosemary it will happen next week.

Amazing article in the July issue of Family Circle magazine profiling Second Life Bikes and its founder Kerri Martin.  The buisness located at 21 Main St. repairs and sells used bikes.  It is also the home to teach our kids about bike mechanics and responsibility.  The children get to keep the bike that they work on. Check it out.  Only In Asbury Park!

Volunteers Needed:  The Asbury Park Musical Heritage Foundation is looking for volunteers to support their initiative to preserve and promote Asbury Park’s rich musical heritage and establish a new musical destination in the city.  If you are interested, there will be an organizational meeting on Monday, June 17th at 7 pm at “Where Music Lives” 708 cookman Avenue (across from the ShowRoom Cinema).  If you can not attend, you can send a message of interest to apvolunteers@optonline.net.

Restaurant News:  Looks like there will be at least two new restaurants in the downtown by the end of the summer.  DJ’s Delights Deli & Restaurant, 620 Mattison Avenue, is expanding their dining space and will be converting the deli area into a market.  Work is expected to be completed by June 20th.  More details to follow.  Stay tuned!

Last night Patti and I attended the 25th Anniversary Celebration for Interfaith Neighbors.  This is an amazing non-profit full of amazing people doing amazing things. They got their start in Asbury Park and are still expanding their efforts to feed, house and care for those in need.  We are grateful you are based here.  Congratulations!

This Sunday is Father’s Day and there is no better place to celebrate this special day than Asbury Park.  I am fortunate that all my children, Tom, Linnea and Dan are coming for a visit.

So it’s going to be a beautiful beach and boardwalk weekend.  Hope to see you in the Park.

Wishes for a wonderful, safe, sunny and warm weekend,
